She reportedly fell into a pond while gardening as a crocodile attacked her, according to local media accounts.

An autopsy is now being performed at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston to determine the cause of death.

The body was discovered by authorities inside a 9-foot-long big reptile well.

It took more than two hours to recover the body

The population of Hilton Head Sun City is 55, and it's known as something of an alligator hotspot.

Only the state of South Carolina is home to an estimated 100,000 alligators. Even so, attacks are still quite uncommon.
