update Zoom before your next meeting

Zoom recently issued a security patch to address a critical flaw: restrict a hacker to gain access to your system.

Patrick Wardle of the Objective-See Foundation discovered the flaw.

When the update runs, it verifies that the software upgrades have been signed by Zoom.

but Wardle observed, however, that it was merely checking to see if the file had the same name as the signing certificate.

A hacker may then acquire access to the Mac by using a new package with the same name as the certificate.

Zoom has a spotty security record. It has previously had issues with unwanted microphone access and a lack of encryption.

Zoom has fixed those problems with updates
